KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA DATE: November 19, 2024 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Resolution to Award the Contract for the <br />2024 Vantage Highway Paving Project (CRP 320-24) and <br />Authorize the County Engineer to execute the same. <br />BACKGROUND: On May 21, 2024, the Kittitas County Board of County <br />Commissioners (BOCC) approved Resolution 2024-094 <br />initiating the County Road Project CRP 320-24 for the 2024 <br />Vantage Highway Paving Project. <br />On October 15, 2024, the BOCC approved a Notice of Call for <br />Sealed Bids for the construction of said project. Sealed bids were <br />opened publicly on November 8, 2024, at Kittitas County Public <br />Works. There were three (3) qualified bids received with the <br />lowest responsive bid being from Interstate Concrete & Asphalt <br />dba American Rock Products in the amount of $2,043,715.00. <br />Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) <br />reviewed bid documents for the mandatory disadvantaged <br />business enterprise participation goal and responded on <br />November 13, 2024, with concurrence to award. <br />Federal Funding has been secured through the Federal Surface <br />Transportation Block Grant Program at 86.5 percent, and a 13.5 <br />percent local match is required to fund the construction. The <br />anticipated start of construction is May 2025. <br />INTERACTION: Public Works. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Resolution to Award the Contract for the 2024 <br />Vantage Highway Paving Project (CRP 320-24) and Authorize <br />the County Engineer to execute the same. <br />HANDLING: Return one (1) copy to Public Works. <br />ATTACHMENTS: Resolution with Bid Tab. <br />LEAD STAFF: Cameron Curtis <br />County Engineer <br />
