KITTITAS COUNTY <br />Board of County Commissioners <br /> <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br /> <br />AGENDA DATE: November 5, 2024 <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Approve Authorization of a Memorandum of Understanding for Use <br />of Sponsorship Funding for Capital Improvement Project <br /> <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: The Ellensburg Rodeo Association and Kittitas Valley Event Center <br />agreed to utilize Capital Improvements Sponsorship Funds to design <br />and install a brand-new fire suppression system in Western Village <br />VIP Room. The requirement for a fire suppression system came from <br />the VIP Room expansion construction project that is being managed <br />and funded by the Ellensburg Rodeo. <br /> <br /> To begin the design and permitting process, the Ellensburg Rodeo <br />contracted with the County’s fire system monitoring and maintenance <br />company, Johnson Controls. This project encompasses three service <br />contracts with Johson Controls, two of which were executed by the <br />Ellensburg Rodeo President and the third was executed by the KVEC <br />Director. The KVEC Director is managing the project in close <br />partnership with the President of the Ellensburg Rodeo Board, Carl <br />Jensvold. <br /> <br /> This MOU covers that KVEC will reimburse the Rodeo for the <br />payments they made under the contracts they signed to begin the <br />initial project using the planned sponsorship funding.
