BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />COUNTY OF KITTITAS <br />STATE OF WASHINGTON <br />RESOLUTION <br />NO. 2024- L2g 5 <br />RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE EXECUTION OF AMENDMENT NO. I TO THE <br />ANIMAL SHELTER OPERATIONS AGREEMENT BETWEEN KITTITAS COUNTY <br />AND THE YAKIMA HUMANE SOCIETY REGARDING FUNDING THE <br />ELLENSBURG ANIMAL SHELTER <br />WHEREAS, the City of Ellensburg (City) has contracted with the Yakima Humane Society to <br />run its animal shelter located at 1007 S. Industrial Way in Ellensburg, WA; and <br />WHEREAS, providing for continued Humane Society operations in the existing Animal Shelter <br />facility and animal licensing ensures uninterrupted shelter operations, and <br />promotes the efficiency of these important services to the public, the City and to <br />the County: and <br />WHEREAS, Kittitas County also entered into an Agreement with the Yakima Humane Society <br />that is attached hereto and hereby incorporated by this reference; and <br />WHEREAS, the Yakima Humane Society underestimated the amount of funding needed to <br />provide the contracted services. After consultation with the Ellensburg Police <br />Department, the City and the County, the City and County have agreed that the <br />funding increase amount is necessary to provide the contracted services and have <br />agreed to increase their financial contributions proportionately to meet the need; <br />NOW THEREFORE, the Kittitas County Board of Commissioners hereby authorize execution <br />of Amendment No. 1 to the Agreement with the Yakima Humane Society as detailed above. <br />DATED this day ofjuQL�___ _, 2024, at Ellensburg, Washington. <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON <br />Brett Wachsmith, Chair <br />aura Osiadacz, Vice -Chair <br />
