KITTITAS COUNTY <br />SOLID WASTE DEPARTMENT <br /> <br /> AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br /> <br /> <br />AGENDA DATE: September 3, 2024 <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request Boards approval for Chairs Signature on AIA <br />Contract with Belsaas & Smith LLC. for the Lower Valley <br />Transfer Station <br /> <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: Kittitas County Solid Waste received bids on August 2, 2024, for the <br />new Lower Valley Transfer Station project. Two bids were received for the project. <br /> <br />SCS Engineers, our design engineers for the project, have reviewed the bids and have <br />recommended award to Belsaas & Smith LLC. In addition, SCS Engineers has confirmed <br />that Belsaas & Smith LLC. is in good standing with their license with the State of <br />Washington. <br /> <br />SCS Engineers has prepared the AIA contracts for the Lower Valley Transfer Station <br />project in the amount of $19,991,064.74 including sales tax. This price includes the base <br />bid for the Transfer Station Building, the Compost Facility and the alternate bid item for <br />the Moderate Risk Waste (MRW) Facility. <br /> <br />As part of the contract, we have asked the contractor to hold the bid prices for the other <br />alternate bid items for an additional 30 days to allow the County time to look at available <br />options to fund these items. <br /> <br />INTERACTION: Patti Stacey Director, SCS Engineers and the Prosecutor <br /> <br />RECOMMENDATION: Recommend Board’s approval for Chairs signature on AIA <br />Contract with Belsaas and Smith LLC. for the Lower Valley Transfer Station. <br /> <br />HANDLING: Return signed copy. <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS: AIA 101-2007 and AIA 201-207 <br /> <br />LEAD STAFF: Patti Stacey, Facilities & Waste Operations Director. <br />
