KITTITAS COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS AGENDA SESSION STAFF REPORT AGENDA DATE: August 6, 2024 ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Resolution Authorizing Public Works Director Signature on Agreement with Washington State Department of Transportation for Installation of ADSB at Bowers Field. BACKGROUND: Washington State Department of Transportation Aviation Division desires to install an Automatic Dependent Surveillance - Broadcast (ADSB) in key locations around the State to provide coverage in collecting aircraft flight data to assist in locating lost, missing, or overdue aircraft. More precise information about an aircraft's path and possible last location can greatly aid WSDOT in locating the aircraft and deploying critical are resources and transportation as needed. WSDOT is primarily utilizing their facilities but there is also an advantage in using other structures and facilities that are located in areas that would provide valuable coverage. WSDOT will provide the equipment and installation, while the County provides a small space for the receiver box as well as an electrical outlet and a connection to the internet. Kittitas County entered into a commercial lease with Airport Holdings LLC for space within the aeronautical facility. Public Works has relocated into the facility, including two office spaces and hangar area for maintenance equipment. The ADSB would be mounted on this facility. The Prosecuting Attorney's Office has reviewed the agreement. INTERACTION: Public Works RECOMMENDATION: Approve a Resolution Authorizing Public Works Director Signature on Agreement with Washington State Department of Transportation for Installation of ADSB at Bowers Field.
