KITTITAS COUNTY <br />Board of County Commissioners <br /> <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br /> <br />AGENDA DATE: June 18th, 2024 <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve Amendment to Kittitas County Travel Policy <br /> <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: In October of last year, Auditor drafted a revised County Travel <br />policy which was adopted by the BOCC. The policy has been <br />successful but recently we have encountered several situations where <br />travelers met the intent of the policy but due to extraordinary <br />circumstances, not necessarily the letter of the policy. In these <br />situations, the Auditor seeks some flexibility to approve reasonable <br />exceptions to policy so long as it complies with state law, county code <br />and is in the best interests of the taxpayers and employees. <br /> <br /> <br />INTERACTION: The Auditors Office worked Human Resources and PAO to review <br />the “exception to policy” language.
