KITTITAS COUNTY
SHERIFF'S OFFICE
AGENDA STAFF REPORT
AGENDA DATE: March 21, 2024
ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve the Professional Services Agreement
Between Kittitas County and CompassDirect Healthcare.
BACI{GROUND: This is a fully funded program through September 2026 or longer by
the BJA FY23 COSSUP Grant received by KCJ and previously acknowledged by the
BOCC on October 3, 2023.
CompassDirect Healthcare intends to provide 24/7/365 access to medically trained
personnel to provide prompt access to treatment for Opioid Use Disorder (OUD).
Nursing staff will be in the facility daily, with access to prescribers via telephone always.
While there are numerous benefits to be realized from implementation of our proposal,
there are three essential objectives that are succinctly summarized below:
- Increase access to Medications for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD) in KCJ.
- Reduce risk to inmates by managing opioid withdrawal safely through utilization
of buprenorphine in line with current BJA guidelines.
- Coordinate care for inmates being released back into the community, reducing
recidivism and poor outcomes for individuals with untreated OUD.
INTERACTION: The Kittitas County Prosecuting Attorney's Office has reviewed and
approved.
RECOMMENDATION: Request to Approve the Professional Services Agreement
Between Kittitas County and Kittitas County Health Network.
HANDLING: Return one fully executed original to the Sheriff's Office.
LEAD STAFF: Lt. Edward Buntin
