BOARD OF' COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />COUNTY OF'KITTITAS <br />STATE OF WASHINGTON <br />RESOLUTION TO F'UND CENTRAL WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY THROUGH l/lOTH OF <br />1% MENTAL HEALTH AND CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY TAX <br />RESOLUTIONNo. 2023 - ? 1 L <br />WHEREAS, the Kittitas County Board of Commissioners (BOCC) established a mental health <br />tax via Kittitas County Ordinance No. 2021-0171' and <br />WHEREAS, the proceeds generated from the Mental Health Tax imposed pursuant to RCW <br />82.14.460, are to be to used to fund programs related to chemical dependency, mental health <br />treatment, or therapeutic courts; and <br />WHEREAS, the Kittitas County lll0 of l%o Mental Health and ChemicalDependency Tax <br />Advisory Board was established by Resolution 2022-185 and was tasked with developing the <br />goals, objectives, and metrics for the use of funds generated by the mental health and chemical <br />dependency tax as well soliciting and collecting proposals and making recommendations to the <br />BOCC and to serve as the advisory board on matters related to alcohol and substance abuse, <br />mental health; and <br />WHEREAS, in September 2023, the Kittitas County 1/10 of l% Mental Health and Chemical <br />Dependency Tax Advisory Board published a Request for Proposals for new or expanded <br />services and programs in Kittitas County to support youth, veterans, the justice involved, and <br />those at high risk of suicide. The Board received eleven responses; and <br />WHEREAS, the Kittitas County Board of Health has made recommendations to the BOCC to <br />fund Central Washington University (CWU) to reopen the Community Counseling and <br />Psychological Assessment Center (the Clinic) in the Psychology building at CWU to support the <br />mental health of rural youth in Kittitas County for the amount of $333,992 from January 1,2024 <br />to December 31, 2025. <br />Now THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that the Board of county <br />Commissioners of Kittitas County, Washington authorizes funding Central Washington <br />University forthe amount of $333,992 from January 1,2024 to December3l,2025 with revenue <br />generated by the 1110 of l%o Mental Health and Chemical Dependency Tax. <br />5+^plLuubq./023ADOPTED this day of <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON <br />Chair
