BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />COUNTY OF KITTITAS <br />STATE OF WASHINGTON <br /> <br />RESOLUTION TO FUND THE KITTITAS COUNTY JAIL THROUGH 1/10TH OF 1% <br />MENTAL HEALTH AND CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY TAX <br /> <br />RESOLUTION No. 2023 -_______ <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Kittitas County Board of Commissioners (BOCC) established a mental health <br />tax via Kittitas County Ordinance No. 2021-017; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the proceeds generated from the Mental Health Tax imposed pursuant to RCW <br />82.14.460, are to be to used to fund programs related to chemical dependency, mental health <br />treatment, or therapeutic courts; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Kittitas County 1/10 of l% Mental Health and Chemical Dependency Tax <br />Advisory Board was established by Resolution 2022-185 and was tasked with developing the <br />goals, objectives, and metrics for the use of funds generated by the mental health and chemical <br />dependency tax as well soliciting and collecting proposals and making recommendations to the <br />BOCC and to serve as the advisory board on matters related to alcohol and substance abuse, <br />mental health; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in September 2023, the Kittitas County 1/10 of l% Mental Health and Chemical <br />Dependency Tax Advisory Board published a Request for Proposals for new or expanded <br />services and programs in Kittitas County to support youth, veterans, the justice involved, and <br />those at high risk of suicide. The Board received eleven responses; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Kittitas County 1/10 of l% Mental Health and Chemical Dependency Tax <br />Advisory Board and Kittitas County Board of Health have made recommendations to the BOCC <br />to fund the Kittitas County Jail to hire a qualified practitioner to provide behavioral health <br />related medical assessment, treatment, prevention and follow up to those incarcerated in the <br />Kittitas County Jail for the amount of $378,950 from January 1, 2024 to December 31, 2025. <br /> <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that the Board of County <br />Commissioners of Kittitas County, Washington authorizes funding the Kittitas County Jail for <br />the amount of $378,950 from January 1, 2024 to December 31, 2025 with revenue generated by <br />the 1/10 of l% Mental Health and Chemical Dependency Tax. <br /> <br /> <br />ADOPTED this day of __________________. <br /> <br /> <br /> BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br /> KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON <br /> <br />
