BACKGROUND: The Horizontal Curve Safety Project was selected to receive Federal Funding through the Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP). The grant funding provides the County a cost-effective approach to study horizontal curves countywide and will allow location selection and implementation of improved roadside signing including advisory speeds, chevron arrow signs, and the addition of carsonite safety posts to increase driver awareness, which can help reduce injuries on the road system. This project is eligible for 100% Federal Funding for all phases authorized prior to April 30, 2026. This Project Prospectus covers the Federal Funding for the Preliminary Engineering phase of the project. Public Works is preparing to perform the preliminary engineering with County staff, including survey, environmental permitting, and design.
