PROCLAMATION
“Ellensburg High School Boys Cross Country Team Day”
November 27, 2023
WIAA 2A Academic State Champions – Fall 2023
WHEREAS: the Ellensburg High School Boys Cross Country Team are the Fall 2023 WIAA 2A Academic State
Champions; and
WHEREAS: the team has maintained an average GPA of 3.950 throughout their season and the Kittitas County
Board of Commissioners would like to recognize the following athletes on the EHS Cross Country Team for their
academic achievement which includes Joseph Fromherz, David Hammond, Mystic Hammond, Leif Holmgren, Kaden
Mattson, Brody Michael, Dominic Scappini, Mac Steele, Dan Sullivan, Jeremy Wallace; and
WHEREAS: the Cross Country team has a philosophy of the three C’s that include: Character to do their best in
all areas of their lives. They are honest and dependable. Confident yet humble and displays good sportsmanship. And
demonstrates good character even when no one is looking. Commitment of giving their best effort consistently over
time. They know the process of striving for excellence is what gives running meaning. They live a life a lifestyle
conducive to high performance; good nutrition, sleep, avoiding alcohol and drugs. Community creates a unique team
identity where everyone is welcome, and no hazing occurs. Runners do not say “no” when other athletes ask to be
included. Ellensburg Cross Country contributes to the broader Ellensburg community through service; and
WHEREAS: members of the Ellensburg High School Boys Cross Country Team serve as leaders and ambassadors
for their school and community while demonstrating their hard work, dedication, and commitment to the importance of
academics; and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: The Kittitas County Board of Commissioners would like to request that
the citizens of Kittitas County join them in celebrating and honoring the Boys Cross County Team by Proclaiming
November 27, 2023, as “Ellensburg High School Boys Cross Country Team Day”, recognizing their accomplishment
of being the WIAA 2A Boys Cross Country Team Academic State Champions for Fall 2023.
ADOPTED this 21st day of November 2023.
