BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
PROCLAMATION
VETERANS DAY
WHEREAS: in 1954 President Dwight D. Eisenhower, first proclaimed
November 11 as Veterans Duy, calling on Americans to solemnly remember
the sacrifices of all those who fought so valiantly, on the seas, in the air, and
on foreign shores, to preserve our heritage of freedom; and
WHEREAS, President Eisenhower asked Americans to commit ourselves to
the task of promoting peace so that our Veterans' efforts shall not have been
in vain; and
WHEREAS, the men and women of our armed forces continue to be an
inspiration to all of us through their demonstration of courage, leadership
and commitment in service to our community and country; and
WHEREAS, the greatest acknowledgement of our freedom is to honor our
armed forces veterans who have sacrificed, and in many instances, paid the
ultimate price for our freedom; and
NOW' THEREFORE, the Kittitas County Board of Commissioners proudly joins
the rest of our nation to salute and give special honor and recognition to the
men and women who served us in our armed forces and encourages all
citizens to promote peace.
