2023 AGENDA STAFF REPORT
AGENDA DATE: October 3, 2023
ACTION REQUESTED: Request to set a Public Hearing for October 17, 2023, at
2:00 pm local time, to consider Amending Kittitas County
Code to reflect the formation of a Public Services
Department
BACKGROUND: The consolidation of Public Works and Community
Development Services presents an opportunity to improve
operational efficiencies. Recently, with the dissolution of
the Airport Department and the management being moved
back to Public Works has created a greater need to improve
operational efficiencies and streamline processes such as
Agenda and Study Sessions.
Staff is proposing to amend Kittitas County Code creating
the Public Services Department and eliminating the Public
Works and Community Development Services from code
in a single action as an out of cycle code amendment.
INTERACTION: Public Works; Prosecuting Attorney's Office.
RECOMMENDATION: Set a Public Hearing for October 17, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. to
consider Amending Kittitas County Code to reflect the
formation of a Public Services Department.
HANDLING: Return one original to Public Works.

The Board of Kittitas County Commissioners will meet at 2:00 pm on October 17, 2023, in the Commissioners' Auditorium
located at 205 West 5th Avenue, Room 109, Kittitas County Courthouse, Ellensburg, WA, to consider amending Kittitas
County Code to reflect the formation of a Public Services Department.
