KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />2023 AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA DATE: October 3, 2023 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to set a Public Hearing for October 17, 2023, at <br />2:00 pm local time, to consider Amending Kittitas County <br />Code to reflect the formation of a Public Services <br />Department <br />BACKGROUND: The consolidation of Public Works and Community <br />Development Services presents an opportunity to improve <br />operational efficiencies. Recently, with the dissolution of <br />the Airport Department and the management being moved <br />back to Public Works has created a greater need to improve <br />operational efficiencies and streamline processes such as <br />Agenda and Study Sessions. <br />Staff is proposing to amend Kittitas County Code creating <br />the Public Services Department and eliminating the Public <br />Works and Community Development Services from code <br />in a single action as an out of cycle code amendment. <br />INTERACTION: Public Works; Prosecuting Attorney's Office. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Set a Public Hearing for October 17, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. to <br />consider Amending Kittitas County Code to reflect the <br />formation of a Public Services Department. <br />HANDLING: Return one original to Public Works. <br />ATTACHMENTS: Notice of Public Hearing. <br />LEAD STAFF: Mark R.
