09/27/2023 MINUTES 1 <br />COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES <br />KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON <br />AUDITORIUM <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br /> <br />WEDNESDAY 5:30 P.M. SEPTEMBER 27, 2023 <br /> <br />Board members present: Chairman Cory Wright; Vice-Chairman Brett <br />Wachsmith; and Commissioner Laura Osiadacz. <br /> <br />Others: Julie Kjorsvik, Clerk of the Board; Mandy Buchholz, Office <br />Administrator; Ed Buntin, Jail Lieutenant; Ben Kokjer, Chief Deputy; <br />and 19 members of the public. <br /> <br />SPECIAL MEETING TOWN HALL MEETING COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br />At 5:30 p.m. CHAIRMAN WRIGHT opened a Special Meeting to provide <br />information on various topics about the County and projects the <br />Board has been working on. <br /> <br />The Commissioners reviewed a power-point that included an overview <br />of County government, Commissioner functions, youth projects, mental <br />health programs, public safety/law & justice; partnerships with <br />cities and other organizations, roads and infrastructure, water and <br />floodplain projects, building department statistics, economic <br />development, service expectations, land use, and challenges. <br /> <br />There was an opportunity for questions and answers from citizens in <br />attendance. Some of the questions raised by citizens included <br />concerns if there are enough jobs to support growth; mental health <br />education and programs; importance of water and the work that’s gone <br />on; affordable housing & homelessness; lack of childcare providers <br />in the County; elimination of positions including the Airport <br />Director and Staff and the CDS Director; airport leases; and the <br />need for a Court Facilitator. <br /> <br />The meeting was concluded at 7:23 p.m. <br /> <br />KITTITAS COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />CLERK OF THE BOARD KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />Julie Kjorsvik Chairman Cory Wright
