09/05/2023 MINUTES 1 COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON AUDITORIUM SPECIAL MEETING TUESDAY 2:00 P.M. SEPTEMBER 5, 2023 Board members present: Chairman Cory Wright and Vice-Chairman Brett Wachsmith. Excused: Commissioner Laura Osiadacz. Others: Julie Kjorsvik, Clerk of the Board; Patti Stacey, Facilities & Waste Director; Mandy Buchholz, Office Administrator; and Ben Kokjer, Chief Deputy. PUBLIC HEARING DECLARE EQUIPMENT SURPLUS SHERIFF At 2:00 p.m. CHAIRMAN WRIGHT opened a Public Hearing to consider declaring equipment surplus to Kittitas County. BEN KOKJER, CHIEF DEPUTY, reviewed a Staff Report and said the Sheriff’s Office has determined that certain vehicles and firearms owned by their office should be retired and replaced, and should be removed from the County inventory program. THERE BEING NO PUBLIC IN ATTENDANCE TO TESTIFY, THE PUBLIC PORTION OF THE HEARING WAS CLOSED. RESOLUTION 2023-144 DECLARE EQUIPMENT SURPLUS SHERIFF VICE-CHAIRMAN WACHSMITH moved to approve Resolution No. 2023-144, To Declare Equipment Surplus to the County. CHAIRMAN WRIGHT seconded. Motion carried 2-0. PUBLIC HEARING FEES FOR DISPOSAL SOLID WASTE At 2:01 p.m. CHAIRMAN WRIGHT opened a Public Hearing to consider setting fees for Solid Waste disposal. PATTI STACEY, FACILITIES & WASTE OPERATIONS DIRECTOR, reviewed a Staff Report and said the Solid Waste Department contracts with Waste Management to operate the tipping floors and for the disposal of municipal solid waste. She said they also manage the recycling and hauling of County CDL and yard waste. In accordance with the contract, Waste Management is allowed a yearly CPI increase, in their contract. In addition, there will be an increase in appliances with CFC’s, Tires, and Liquid Waste. THERE BEING NO PUBLIC IN ATTENDANCE TO TESTIFY, THE PUBLIC PORTION OF THE HEARING WAS CLOSED.
