09/05/2023 MINUTES 1 <br />COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES <br />KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON <br />AUDITORIUM <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br /> <br />TUESDAY 2:00 P.M. SEPTEMBER 5, 2023 <br /> <br />Board members present: Chairman Cory Wright and Vice-Chairman Brett <br />Wachsmith. Excused: Commissioner Laura Osiadacz. <br /> <br />Others: Julie Kjorsvik, Clerk of the Board; Patti Stacey, Facilities <br />& Waste Director; Mandy Buchholz, Office Administrator; and Ben <br />Kokjer, Chief Deputy. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARING DECLARE EQUIPMENT SURPLUS SHERIFF <br /> <br />At 2:00 p.m. CHAIRMAN WRIGHT opened a Public Hearing to consider <br />declaring equipment surplus to Kittitas County. <br /> <br />BEN KOKJER, CHIEF DEPUTY, reviewed a Staff Report and said the <br />Sheriff’s Office has determined that certain vehicles and firearms <br />owned by their office should be retired and replaced, and should be <br />removed from the County inventory program. <br /> <br />THERE BEING NO PUBLIC IN ATTENDANCE TO TESTIFY, THE PUBLIC PORTION <br />OF THE HEARING WAS CLOSED. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION 2023-144 DECLARE EQUIPMENT SURPLUS SHERIFF <br /> <br />VICE-CHAIRMAN WACHSMITH moved to approve Resolution No. 2023-144, To <br />Declare Equipment Surplus to the County. CHAIRMAN WRIGHT seconded. <br />Motion carried 2-0. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARING FEES FOR DISPOSAL SOLID WASTE <br /> <br />At 2:01 p.m. CHAIRMAN WRIGHT opened a Public Hearing to consider <br />setting fees for Solid Waste disposal. <br /> <br />PATTI STACEY, FACILITIES & WASTE OPERATIONS DIRECTOR, reviewed a <br />Staff Report and said the Solid Waste Department contracts with <br />Waste Management to operate the tipping floors and for the disposal <br />of municipal solid waste. She said they also manage the recycling <br />and hauling of County CDL and yard waste. In accordance with the <br />contract, Waste Management is allowed a yearly CPI increase, in <br />their contract. In addition, there will be an increase in appliances <br />with CFC’s, Tires, and Liquid Waste. <br /> <br />THERE BEING NO PUBLIC IN ATTENDANCE TO TESTIFY, THE PUBLIC PORTION <br />OF THE HEARING WAS CLOSED. <br />
