COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES
KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON

REGULAR MEETING
MONDAY 9:00 A.M. AUGUST 14, 2023
Board members present: Chairman Cory Wright; Vice-Chairman Brett
Wachsmith (Webex); Excused - Commissioner Laura Osiadacz.
Others: Mandy Buchholz, Office Administrator; Julie Kjorsvik, Clerk
of the Board; Kate Jimenez, Administrative Assistant; Debbie
Stanavich, Administrative Assistant.
REGULAR MEETING OFFICE STAFF MEETING COMMISSIONERS
At 9:00 a.m. Chairman Wright opened the Office Administration
Meeting.
CALENDAR WEEK AT A GLANCE COMMISSIONERS
The Board of County Commissioners reviewed their weekly calendar.
PAF/VOUCHERS REVIEW OF PAF’S & VOUCHERS COMMISSIONERS
The Board of County Commissioners approved and signed County
Employee Personnel Action forms and vouchers.
CORRESPONDENCE LOG REVIEW OF CORRESPONDENCE LOG COMMISSIONERS
The Board of County Commissioners reviewed the weekly Correspondence
Log, a listing of all incoming mail and correspondence for the week
ending August 11, 2023.
WAIVER NOISE ORDINANCE – BROWN COMMISSIONERS
Commissioner Wachsmith moved to approve and authorize a Noise
Ordinance Waiver request from Rickie Brown to host a Family Lawn
Mower Races located at 221 Cattail Road, Ellensburg, WA 98926
September 8, 2023 – September 10, 2023 until midnight for September
9,2023 (only) with the condition that they notify neighbors within a
one ½ mile of the event, which they have done and directed Staff to
notify Ms. Brown, KITTCOM and the KCSO. Chairman Wright seconded.
Motion carried 2-0.
APPOINT JEFF OURDANIK - LTAC COMMISSIONERS
Commissioner Wachsmith moved to appoint Jeff Ourdanik to the
Kittitas County Lodging Tax Advisory Committee (seat for Upper
County Entity that pays into the fund) effective immediately and

authorize Chair signature on a letter of appointment. Chairman
Wright seconded. Motion carried 2-0.
LETTER OF SUPPORT TECH HUBS COMMISSIONERS
Commissioner Wachsmith moved to approve Chair signature on a letter
of support for Tech Hubs to Eric Smith, Director of the Office of
Innovation and Entrepreneurship EDA as presented. Chairman Wright
seconded. Motion carried 2-0.
DISCUSSION COUNTY FACEBOOK COMMISSIONERS
The Board determined that for the week of August 14, 2023, they
would post on their Facebook page the following: RFP for the
Hearings Examiner to assist in BoE Hearings; Lodging Tax Application
and training opportunities; Certificate of Appreciation to Jan
McElroy, Legal Process Asst III, for her retirement and years of
and Certificate of Recognition to Lisa Soderstrom, Legal Process
Coordinator (UDC) for 40 years of employment.
UPDATE BOCC/ DEPARTMENT HEAD REPORTS COMMISSIONERS
Each Commissioner was assigned three different Department Heads to
meet with on a weekly basis for the year. The assignments for 2023
were determined at the Board of County Commissioners Office Admin
meeting earlier on and they will continue to provide updates at
future meetings.
Each Commissioner reviewed discussions held with their respective
departments and exchanged details of those meetings.
UPDATES BOCC/WHITE BOARDS COMMISSIONERS
The Board reviewed their updates/edits to each of their white
boards.
OTHER BUSINESS/GENERAL UPDATES
There were general updates on meetings & conversations that the
Board participated in, individually over the past week.
