COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES
KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON
CONFERENCE ROOM
SPECIAL MEETING
MONDAY 10:00 A.M. AUGUST 7, 2023
Board members present: Chairman Cory Wright; Vice-Chairman Brett
Wachsmith and Commissioner Laura Osiadacz.
Others: Julie Kjorsvik, Clerk of the Board; Mark Cook, Public
Works/CDS Director; and Joe Poire, JRP Integrated Solutions.
SPECIAL MEETING BROADBAND UPDATE COMMISSIONERS
Chairman Wright opened a Special Meeting to receive a Broadband
update from Joe Poire, JRP Integrated Solutions.
Joe Poire, JRP Integrated Solutions, provided an update to the Board
of County Commissioners on the PWB Thorp/Edgemont Contract award.
Mark Cook, Public Works/CDS Director, would be negotiating the
Contract with Consolidated and it will be submitted at a future
Agenda for Board consideration. Doug Fessler, IT Director and Patti
Stacey, Facilities & Waste Operations Director, both reviewed the
applications and suggested having better questions with more
specific information to assist them in scoring. Mr. Poire said it
was subjective and would ask to keep the same people judging in the
future for consistency.
Joe Poire, JRP Integrated Solutions, reviewed the next steps for the
Kittitas County BEAD preparation. He said the Digital Equity project
was finished and that was approximately 30% of the BEAD money. He
reviewed challenges and said Spokane County was actually the largest
County in Washington who have the most underserved households. The
BAT team will be setting up a plan to hold an Open House. The Board
thanked Mr. Poire for his update.
