<br /> <br />PROCLAMATION <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />SEPTEMBER 11 <br />“NATIONAL DAY OF SERVICE AND REMEMBRANCE” <br /> <br />WHEREAS: On September 11, 2001, the American people endured the worst attack on U.S. soil in our nation’s <br />history with courage and heroism; and <br />WHEREAS: In response to this tragedy, Americans across the country united together across differences to stand <br />together, to see each other’s humanity, to grieve together, to take care of one another and to do the hard work of <br />rebuilding and uplifting neighborhood by neighborhood; and <br />WHEREAS: The Serve America Act, passed by Congress and enacted into law on April 21, 2009, recognized <br />September 11th as an annual “National Day of Service and Remembrance”; and <br />WHEREAS: On the anniversary of the September 11th attacks, it is fitting to pay tribute to the strength and <br />resilience of the American people through service to our nation and our communities; and <br />WHEREAS: By serving on this National Day of Service and Remembrance we honor those killed and injured, <br />pay tribute to those who responded in service and compassion, and honor those who continue to serve our country, <br />including active-duty and reserve soldiers and their families, veterans, and first-responders; and <br />WHEREAS: On September 11, 2023, and the days preceding and following this day, community members in <br />Kittitas County have an opportunity to honor the fallen and commemorate the continued American spirit of <br />resilience through service. Stepping forward to serve in a remarkable spirit of unity, honor, and compassion, this <br />year’s September 11th National Day of Service and Remembrance projects will help strengthen our communities <br />while memorializing the events of that fateful day, and; <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED, that the Board of Kittitas County Commissioners do <br />hereby proclaim September 11th a Day of Service and Remembrance in Kittitas County, Washington, and call <br />upon our citizens to honor the lives of those lost by participating in community service and remembrance <br />ceremonies on this day and throughout the year. <br />Adopted this 5th day of September 2023. <br /> KITTITAS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> <br /> Cory Wright, Chairman <br />ATTEST: <br /> <br /> Brett Wachsmith, Vice-Chairman <br /> <br /> <br />Julie Kjorsvik, Clerk of the Board Laura Osiadacz, Commissioner
