ACTION REQUESTED:
Resolution Authorizing closure of the Limited Purpose Landfill.
BACKGROUND:
Kittitas County Solid Waste has operated the Limited Purpose Landfill under it's existing permit since 2004.
The landfill is reaching it's permitted elevations and capacity and it has been determined that it would not be
cost effective to continue to peruse the landfill expansion.
The Landfill has served as a location in the County for the contractors to bring construction debris as a lower
rate then taking it to the transfer station where the material is long hauled to WM's Greater Wenatchee
Landfill.
At the current rate of fill the landfill will meet elevation and capacity in December of 2025. At that time the
landfill will complete the required cover per an approved plan and start the post closure monitoring required
under WAC 173.350.400.
INTERACTION:
Parametrix Engineering, Department of Ecology, Environmental Health, and the Prosecutors office.
RECOMMENDATION:
Recommend Board approval of the Resolution Authorizing closure of the Limited Purpose Landfill.

Return Signed Copy.
