AGENDA DATE: September 5, 2023
ACTION REQUESTED: Request to hold a public hearing and recommend approval of
resolution to declare equipment surplus to the County.

BACKGROUND: RCW 36.34.010 authorizes the Board of County Commissioners to
decide whether County-owned real or personal property is surplus to
the needs of the County and whether disposal would be in the best
interest of the County. Kittitas County Code Chapter 2.81 states the
County asset inventory policy that provides for disposal of County
assets that are removed from service through surplus, interdepartmental
transfer, loss or theft, trade-in, destruction and breakage, scrap and
abandonment, and intergovernmental sale. The Kittitas County Sheriff
has determined that certain vehicles and firearms owned by his Office
should be retired and replaced, and such list is attached herein.
Therefore, in the best interest of the County, the items shown on the
attached list should be removed from the County inventory program
and list.
INTERACTION: The Kittitas County Prosecutor’s Office has reviewed and approved.
RECOMMENDATION: Hold a Public Hearing and approve a Resolution to declare equipment
surplus to the County.
HANDLING: Return one signed original to the Sheriff’s Office.
