ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Resolution Authorizing Amendment of the
December 20, 2022 Youth Sports Scholarship Program Contract with
HopeSource.
BACKGROUND: HopeSource is seeking an additional $2,000 for the 2022 Youth
Recreation Scholarship Program contract. No other changes will be
made to the contract. This program’s mission is to mitigate the effects
of poverty and other situations that place a child’s social and
emotional development at risk. The Youth Recreation Scholarship is
intended to help children participate in after-school sports activities.
HopeSource is requesting an additional $1,540 in funds provided
directly to program participants and $460 for admin and operation
costs. These costs include pool costs for the program (IT, phone,
insurance, space, and costs for processing checks by the finance
department), and wages for staff (to verify income, application
processing, communicating with organizations/clients, submitting
applications for payment, and outreach).
INTERACTION: Budget information was confirmed with the Auditor’s Office.

RECOMMENDATION: Approve a Resolution Authorizing Amendment of the December 20,
2022 Youth Sports Scholarship Program Contract with HopeSource.
