COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES
KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON

REGULAR MEETING
MONDAY 9:00 A.M. AUGUST 7, 2023
Board members present: Chairman Cory Wright; Vice-Chairman Brett
Wachsmith; Commissioner Laura Osiadacz.
Others: Mandy Buchholz, Office Administrator; Julie Kjorsvik, Clerk
of the Board; Kate Jimenez, Administrative Assistant.
REGULAR MEETING OFFICE STAFF MEETING COMMISSIONERS
At 9:00 a.m. Chairman Wright opened the Office Administration
Meeting.
CALENDAR WEEK AT A GLANCE COMMISSIONERS
The Board of County Commissioners reviewed their weekly calendar.
PAF/VOUCHERS REVIEW OF PAF’S & VOUCHERS COMMISSIONERS
The Board of County Commissioners approved and signed County
Employee Personnel Action forms and vouchers.
CORRESPONDENCE LOG REVIEW OF CORRESPONDENCE LOG COMMISSIONERS
The Board of County Commissioners reviewed the weekly Correspondence
Log, a listing of all incoming mail and correspondence for the week
ending August 4, 2023.
RESOLUTION 2023-130 BURN BAN COMMISSIONERS
Commissioner Wachsmith moved to approve Resolution No. 2023-130,
declaring a ban on outdoor burning. Commissioner Osiadacz seconded.
Motion carried 3-0.
REAPPOINT JUSTIN GRINDROD COMMISSIONERS
Commissioner Wachsmith moved to reappoint Justin Grindrod for a 3
year term on the Kittitas County Developmental Disabilities Advisory
Committee effective immediately and to end on 12/31/2026 and
authorize Chair signature on a letter of reappointment. Commissioner
Osiadacz seconded. Motion carried 3-0.
DISCUSSION TOWN HALL DECISIONS COMMISSIONERS
Mandy Buchholz, Office Administrator asked the Board to determine

for the Upper County Town Hall location the room set up as far as
qty of chairs, qty of tables, coffee or water and also to give
direction on the agendas for advertising. She also mentioned that
they could potentially meet at Upper Dist. Court as they have had
meetings there in the past and they are wired she believed for
Webex. The Board gave direction but was in agreement to hold the
meeting at Upper District Court if possible.
LETTER BOE / HEARINGS EXAMINER COMMISSIONERS
Commissioner Wachsmith moved to approve and authorize Board
signature on a letter to the members of the Kittitas County Board of
Equalization as presented. Commissioner Osiadacz seconded. Motion
carried 3-0.
LETTER KC/CITITES/ORGANIZATIONS COMMISSIONERS
Commissioner Wachsmith moved to approve and authorize Chair
signature on a letter of mutual partnership between Kittitas County,
Cities, and Organizations to implement strategies of the Kittitas
County Economic Development Strategic Plan. Commissioner Osiadacz
seconded. Motion carried 3-0.
DISCUSSION COUNTY FACEBOOK COMMISSIONERS
The Board determined that for the week of August 7, 2023, they would
post on their Facebook page the following: STEER I-90 Survey;
Updated Burn Ban and an Application for the Sanda City Marathon.
UPDATE BOCC/ DEPARTMENT HEAD REPORTS COMMISSIONERS
Each Commissioner was assigned three different Department Heads to
meet with on a weekly basis for the year. The assignments for 2023
were determined at the Board of County Commissioners Office Admin
meeting earlier on and they will continue to provide updates at
future meetings.
Each Commissioner reviewed discussions held with their respective
departments and exchanged details of those meetings.
UPDATES BOCC/WHITE BOARDS COMMISSIONERS
The Board reviewed their updates/edits to each of their white
boards.
OTHER BUSINESS/GENERAL UPDATES
There were general updates on meetings & conversations that the
Board participated in, individually over the past week.
