AGENDA DATE: July 5, 2023
ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Resolution initiating County Road
Project designated as CRP NO: 317-23, Vantage Highway
Paving.
BACKGROUND: In early June, Kittitas County was informed that there may
be a surplus of Surface Transportation Block Grant (STBG)
funds available to Local Agencies that have shovel ready
projects able to obligate funding by mid -September of this
year.
Public Works has identified the repaving of Vantage
Highway from City of Ellensburg limits to No. 81 Road as a
project that meets the criteria of this funding.
In order to meet the requirements of the program the project
needs to be initiated as a county road project and needs to be
added to the WSDOT Statewide Transportation
Improvement Program.
Project design will be performed by Kittitas County Public
Works. This project will require a 13.5 percent match in local
funds for construction. The current estimated total cost of the
project is $3,950,000.00, with $534,000.00 being the Local
match.

RECOMMENDATION: Approve a Resolution initiating County Road Project
designated as CRP NO: 317-23, Vantage Highway Paving.

BEFORE THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF KITTITAS COUNTY, STATE OF WASHINGTON, in the matter
of initiating a county road project designated as:
CRP NO: 317-23 JOB NO: RC 2296
IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED that the Vantage Highway Paving be improved as follows:
The project will plane the existing asphalt surface on Vantage Highway MP 2.027 - MP 6.56 to remove up to 3" of asphalt,
and then replace with a new hot mixed asphalt wearing surface and install new roadway striping and markings.

This project is hereby declared to be a public necessity and the County Engineer is hereby ordered and authorized to report and
proceed thereon as by law provided. (RCW 36.75.050, 36.80.030, 36.80.070).
IT IS FURTHER RESOLVED that an appropriation from the officially adopted road fund budget and based on the County
Engineers estimate, is hereby made in the amounts and for the purposes shown:
