COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES
KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON
CONFERENCE ROOM
SPECIAL MEETING
THURSDAY 10:30 A.M. JUNE 8, 2023
Board members present: Chairman Cory Wright, Vice Chairman Brett
Wachsmith and Commissioner Laura Osiadacz.
Others: Mandy Buchholz, Office Administrator; Greg Zempel,
Prosecutor; Clay Myers, Sheriff; Chris Horner, DPA III; Brian
Carlson, Budget & Finance Director; Elisha Harvill, Chief
Administrator; Amy McGuffin, Chamber CEO.
SPECIAL MEETING CHAMBER - CDBG COMMISSIONERS
At 10:30 a.m. Chairman Wright opened a Special Meeting to discuss
with Amy McGuffin, Chamber CEO, a request from the Chamber for CDBG
General purpose funding – micro enterprise accelerator.
Brian Carlson, Budget & Finance Director explained that after the
Public Hearing last week the Chamber received a phone call from
Commerce explaining they had been encouraged to apply for the
funding. Amy McGuffin, Chamber CEO reviewed her plan for the funding
if awarded and Mr. Carlson stated that the County would be the
grantee and the Chamber would be the subrecipient.
The Board stated that they supported the Chamber pursuing the CDBG
General Purpose Funding Grant – for the Micro Enterprise Accelerator
funding.
Amy and Brian left the meeting.
SPECIAL MEETING EXECUTIVE SESSION COMMISSIONERS
At 10:34 a.m. Chairman Wright announced the Board would recess into
an Executive Session under RCW 42.30.110 (i) To discuss with legal
counsel representing the agency matters relating to agency
enforcement actions, or to discuss with legal counsel representing
the agency litigation or potential litigation to which the agency,
the governing body, or a member acting in an official capacity is,
or is likely to become, a party, when public knowledge regarding the
discussion is likely to result in an adverse legal or financial
consequence to the agency, for 10 minutes. Action was anticipated.
RESOLUTION 2023-095 LEGAL DEFENSE COMMISSIONERS
At 10:44 a.m. the Board reconvened out of Executive Session.
Commissioner Wachsmith moved to approve Resolution No. 2023-095,
2023-06-08 MINUTES 2
Resolution Approving Kittitas County Code Chapter 2.73 Requests for
Legal Defense in US District Court, Western District of Washington,
Cause No. 3:23-cv-5364. Commissioner Osiadacz seconded. Motion
carried 3-0.
Meeting adjourned at 10:47 a.m.
