Request to Set a Public Hearing for June 20, 2023, at 2:00
PM to consider the Purchase of Real Property.
BACKGROUND: Public Works staff has secured funding from the
Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office for
the acquisition of parcel 908933. This acquisition would
secure 39.19 acres of land and one associated senior water
right. After acquisition, the land would be managed by the
Flood Control Zone District as open space for flood hazard
reduction, fish and wildlife enhancement, and passive
recreational uses.
On May 16, 2023, the Kittitas County Board of
Commissioners entered into a Purchase and Sale
Agreement with Western Rivers Conservancy. Closing is
contingent on the Board of County Commissioners
adopting a resolution authorizing the purchase. For
previous land acquisitions conducted by the Flood Control
Zone District, the Chief Civil Deputy Prosecutor has
advised that the Board of County Commissioners hold a
public hearing to approve the purchase.
INTERACTION: Public Works
RECOMMENDATION: Set a Public Hearing for June 20, 2023, at 2:00 PM to
consider the Purchase of Real Property.
HANDLING: Return one original to Public Works
