KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />AGENDA DATE <br />ACTION REQUESTED: <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br />June 6, 2023 <br />Request to Set a Public Hearing for June 20, 2023, at 2:00 <br />PM to consider the Purchase of Real Property. <br />BACKGROUND: Public Works staff has secured funding from the <br />Washington State Recreation and Conservation Office for <br />the acquisition of parcel 908933. This acquisition would <br />secure 39.19 acres of land and one associated senior water <br />right. After acquisition, the land would be managed by the <br />Flood Control Zone District as open space for flood hazard <br />reduction, fish and wildlife enhancement, and passive <br />recreational uses. <br />On May 16, 2023, the Kittitas County Board of <br />Commissioners entered into a Purchase and Sale <br />Agreement with Western Rivers Conservancy. Closing is <br />contingent on the Board of County Commissioners <br />adopting a resolution authorizing the purchase. For <br />previous land acquisitions conducted by the Flood Control <br />Zone District, the Chief Civil Deputy Prosecutor has <br />advised that the Board of County Commissioners hold a <br />public hearing to approve the purchase. <br />INTERACTION: Public Works <br />RECOMMENDATION: Set a Public Hearing for June 20, 2023, at 2:00 PM to <br />consider the Purchase of Real Property. <br />HANDLING: Return one original to Public Works <br />ATTACHMENTS: Notice of Public Hearing <br />LEAD STAFF: Arden Thomas <br />Public Works Water Resource Manager <br />
