Ruby St., Suite 2, Ellensburg, WA 98926 <br />CDS@CO.KITTITAS.WA.US <br />Office (509) 962-7506 <br /> <br /> <br />“Building Partnerships – Building Communities” <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br /> <br />AGENDA DATE: May 16, 2023 <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Set a Public Hearing to Consider Amending KCC Chapter 14.04 and <br />Title 20 to Adopt the 2021 International Building Codes with Washington State <br />Amendments and Referenced Standards <br /> <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: On January 4, 2023, the Washington State Building Code Council completed adoption of <br />the following codes: <br />• 2021 International Building Code with statewide amendments <br />• 2017 ICC/ANSI A117.1-17, Accessible and Usable Buildings and Facilities, with <br />statewide amendments <br />• 2021 International Residential Code with statewide amendments <br />• 2021 International Mechanical Code with statewide amendments <br />• 2021 International Fuel Gas Code with statewide amendments (part of the IMC <br />adoption) <br />• 2020 Liquefied Petroleum Gas Code (NFPA 58) <br />• 2021 National Fuel Gas Code (NFPA 54) <br />• 2021 International Fire Code with statewide amendments <br />• 2021 Uniform Plumbing Code with statewide amendments <br />• 2021 Washington State Energy Code- Residential <br />• 2021 Washington State Energy Code- Commercial <br />• 2021 International Existing Building Code with state amendments found in the IBC <br />• 2021 International Swimming Pool and Spa code <br />• 2021 International Wildland Urban Interface Code with statewide amendments <br />These codes, with Washington State amendments and referenced standards, will be <br />effective on July 1, 2023. <br />CDS is requesting to set a public hearing to consider amending the current Kittitas County <br />Code (KCC) Chapter 14.04 and Title 20 to adopt the 2021 International Building Codes <br />with Washington State Amendments and referenced standards. <br />INTERACTION: CDS, Board of County Commissioners <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS: None <br /> <br />RESPONSIBLE STAFF Jeremy Larson, Building Official <br /> Toni Berkshire, Code Enforcement Officer <br /> Darren Higashiyama, Interim Fire Marshal <br /> Dan Carlson, AICP, CDS Director <br />
