AGENDA DATE: May 16, 2023
ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Resolution amending the lease between
the City of Cle Elum and the Kittitas County Sheriff's Office for the old Public Works
shop facility, removing leasehold tax language.
BACKGROUND: On February 15, 2022, the Board of County Commissioners for
Kittitas County approved Resolution No. 2022-049 authorizing a lease with the City of
Cle Elum to temporarily house the Kittitas County Search and Rescue Program pursuant
to certain lease terms, including the payment of leasehold tax. The Washington State
Department of Revenue has since informed the City of Cle Elum that this provision is not
applicable to a lease between government entities. Subsequently, the Kittitas County
Auditor's Office has asked for the lease terms to be updated to reflect such.
INTERACTION: The Kittitas County Prosecuting Attorney's Office has reviewed and
approved this amending Resolution.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve a Resolution amending the lease between the City of
Cle Elum and the Kittitas County Sheriff's Office for the old Public Works shop facility
to remove leasehold tax language.
HANDLING: Please return one original to the Kittitas County Sheriff's Office.
