AGENDA STAFF REPORT
AGENDA DATE: May 16, 2023
ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Resolution Authorizing a
Memorandum of Understanding between Washington Traffic Safety Commission and the
Kittitas County Sheriff's Office.
BACKGROUND: The Washington Traffic Safety Commission (WTSC) supports the
Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) program by providing funds for overtime work to
perform drug evaluation activities of registered DREs. The WTSC has agreed to fund
overtime for DREs who enter this partnership by virtue of a Memorandum of
Understanding (though it is effectively an interlocal agreement, in this case) for the
period of July 1, 2023 through June 30, 2025.
INTERACTION: This Memorandum of Understanding was reviewed and approved by
the Kittitas County Prosecutor's Office.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve a Resolution Authorizing a Memorandum of
Understanding between Washington Traffic Safety Commission and the Kittitas County
Sheriff's Office.
HANDLING: Please return 1 original to KCSO. KCSO to provide a fully executed
MOU back to the BOCC once obtained from WTSC.
