ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Resolution to Allow the Kittitas Valley
Event Center to Charge Credit Card Processing Fees for Online
Payments
BACKGROUND: The Kittitas Valley Event Center has more customers who would like the
convenience of paying for their facility rentals and other services online,
so they don’t have to pay in the office. KVEC believes in offering this
convenience to them, but the online payment comes with credit card
processing fees.
Currently Resolution 2002-085 prevents KVEC from charging those
fees. However, the fees cut a significant amount of profit from each
customer payment. It’s standard in other County offices and businesses
that credit card processing fees are the responsibility of the customer, so
KVEC requests the BOCC rescind the old resolution and allow KVEC to
pass the credit card processing fees on to the customer as a standard
practice.
