The Sheriffs Office asks that approval from the State Department of Transportation and Washington State Patrol be obtained for any requirements for the legs of the race occurring on State Highways and the Cities of Cle Elum and South Cle Elum for the legs going through their jurisdictions. As this event does not require closures or roadway detours, this is unordinary road use that the traveling public is not routinely exposed to. The amount of bicycle traffic will however obstruct and interfere with normal motorized vehicle use. Public Works will require traffic control be implemented for this event. This may include large orange "Bikes on Roadway" signs placed along the route and intersections. Safety of both the event participants and the traveling public would benefit from advanced warning signs being implemented as the risk of bicycle and motorized vehicle conflicts would be reduced. Additionally, the applicant will be required to issue advanced notification for the event and any traffic impacts in the Daily Record and the Northern Kittitas County Tribune two weeks in advance to inform the public. Fire extinguishers must be serviced annually by a third party inspector qnd be q minimum of 4lbs and be of type l0:A 20:BC. tr Required Comments: After reading the application in depth, the KCFMO does not see how this event would increase the risk of fire or other emergencies.
