AGENDA DATE: April 4, 2023
ACTION REQUESTED: Approve of resolution authorizing lease execution between
Kittitas County and Pautzke Bait Co. Inc.
BACKGROUND: Kittitas County has been mandated to establish an office of Public
Defense and as part of creating this new department the county needs to provide office
space for these employees.
The county courthouse and all out buildings the county owns are at maximum capacity
and we were unable to provide the needed office space for the new office of Public
Defense. In addition to the office of Public Defense the Sheriff office needed additional
office space and room for IT Equipment.
In reviewing all of the needs it was determined that it was in the best interest of the
county to look for office space the could hold the Prosecutors office staff. By looking for
a building that would hold 24 employees the county could open up space for the Sheriffs
expansion in the Umptanum location and provide space in the courthouse for the new
Public Defense office.
After looking at several locations in the community it was determined the office space at
7th and Main was the best location for the needed offices.
As part of the discussion with the property owner a floor plan was developed to show that
the needed offices would fit in the building. In addition, the cost to add the additional
offices for the county needs was determined and is shown as part of the proposed lease
agreement.

RECOMMENDATION: Recommend Boards approval of the resolution for the lease
agreement with Pautzke Bait Co. Inc.
