AGENDA DATE: April 4, 2023
ACTION REQUESTED: Conduct a Public Hearing to consider a franchise for a wildlife
fence with the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife.
in the vicinity of Stevens Road, Ellensburg.
BACKGROUND: The Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife is working
with the Kittitas Reclamation District to install wildlife fencing
along the canal right of way impacting the road right of way of
Stevens Road. To create safe conditions along I-90 and impacts to
private agricultural lands a request to place wildlife fencing inside
county road right way has been submitted.
The Franchise Application is complete, and the appropriate
application fee has been collected.
Internal discussions between Washington State Department of Fish
and Wildlife and Kittitas Reclamation District are being had on
who is the signatory on said Franchise. Due to this last-minute
development, Public Works is requesting to continue the Public
Hearing to Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at 2pm, to allow for an
executed Franchise to be presented for consideration.
INTERACTION: Public Works.
RECOMMENDATION: Continue the public hearing to consider a franchise for a wildlife
fence with the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife
in the vicinity of Stevens Road, Ellensburg to Tuesday, April 18,
2023, at 2pm.
