KITTITAS COUNTY <br />DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br />AGENDA DATE: April 4, 2023 <br />ACTION REQUESTED: Conduct a Public Hearing to consider a franchise for a wildlife <br />fence with the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife. <br />in the vicinity of Stevens Road, Ellensburg. <br />BACKGROUND: The Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife is working <br />with the Kittitas Reclamation District to install wildlife fencing <br />along the canal right of way impacting the road right of way of <br />Stevens Road. To create safe conditions along I-90 and impacts to <br />private agricultural lands a request to place wildlife fencing inside <br />county road right way has been submitted. <br />The Franchise Application is complete, and the appropriate <br />application fee has been collected. <br />Internal discussions between Washington State Department of Fish <br />and Wildlife and Kittitas Reclamation District are being had on <br />who is the signatory on said Franchise. Due to this last-minute <br />development, Public Works is requesting to continue the Public <br />Hearing to Tuesday, April 18, 2023, at 2pm, to allow for an <br />executed Franchise to be presented for consideration. <br />INTERACTION: Public Works. <br />RECOMMENDATION: Continue the public hearing to consider a franchise for a wildlife <br />fence with the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife <br />in the vicinity of Stevens Road, Ellensburg to Tuesday, April 18, <br />2023, at 2pm. <br />ATTACHMENTS: None. <br />LEAD STAFF: Mark R.
