Summary: The Office of the Secretary of State has established an Election Security Grant that provides
counties with up to 580,000 in funding to support election security enhancements. The funds can be
used to support physical or lT security upgrades. Kittitas County Auditor's Office in coordination with our
lT department applied for the grant and our request has been approved for the following:

*Estimated costs bosed on initiol research. Final costs may shift project item depending octuol invoices,
but total will not exceed omount allocated by OSOS.
There are no specific requirements for the grant other than it be used for it's intended purpose and
work is completed/submitted for reimbursement no later than June 3}th,2023.
Concept & Timeline:
. January-February: Auditor & lT collaborated to draft a request based on specific identified
election security needs.
o February - June: Auditors Office coordinates with Maintenance to complete the physical
security upgrades. lT works internally and with applicable vendors to implement cyber security
enhancements.
o NLT June 30th: Work completed, and funds expended (reimbursed.) Prepare for next Grant cycle
in2024.
Recommendation: Request BOCC acknowledgement of OSOS Grant.
