Gallery One is one of very few organizations in the state to offer the combination of arts experiences that we do. Our exhibits feature nationally acclaimed artists alongside emerging and regional artists. Our events are centered around art and engagement and are fun ways to meet people and experience art. These events range from artist receptions and talks, studio tours, to classes for all skill levels. Additionally, our exhibits and regionally focused gift shop is available 6 days a week, including Sundays for visitors to enjoy. New studies are emerging too that identify the creative economy as the fastest growing sector in the US. ln Washington alone, the creative economy brought in $70 Billion dollars in industry earnings (artist income, technology, writers, etc) and grew 17o/o year of year. While nonprofits suffered greatly as result of the nonprofit, these industries, who we intend to market to, are growing. 2500 character Iimit Response 2.2*Describe the prior success of your event/activity/facility in attraction tourists. Prior to the pandemic (March 2020- now), our annual attendance had been growing on average 10% a year. While individual events may have smaller audiences (Pecha Kucha 130, average class size is 12, etc) collectively over the course of a year, they add up. Ourstrength is in ourdiversity of offerings, our consistent messaging and in our unique content. Our attendance increased 30% from last year to this year and we are hopeful that we will continue this trend and move back toward prepandemic levels. Our target audience is self- identified arts lovers, cultural tourists, those with a proven propensity to attend art exhibits and events but are not aware of Gallery One. The culturaltourist according to the 2018 Dean Runyan report averages $200/day in spending. 2. Our secondary audience is age specific, millennials and those who are part of the creative economy. The creative economy includes those in technology but also graphic designers, writers and other creatives and makers. 73 percent of Millennials "want to engage a destination's arts and cultural assets"-the highest rated activity of importance. This generation is tech savvy and will be targeted through social media and online programming. 3. Our tertiary audience is comprised of those that are not traveling for specific arts experiences but do see art as a value added experience. "We love to taste wine and I also heard that there are lots of galleries in Ellensburg." These are cultural tourists that would likely listen to NWPB, attend an arts event with a friend or need a secondary activity while their partner is fly-fishing, hiking or floating the Yakima River. 2500 character limit Application Questions: Part 3 4l Gollaboration lf your organization collaborates or has created partnerships with other organizations, groups, or other events, how is this accomplished? lf-app-16-03.co.kittitas.wa.us/Forms/form/submission/history/77511l85646?hideHeader=true 5t'15 9129122,'10:54 AM 4.1 Collaboration * LTAC Clerk Review NATIONAL -North American Reciprocal Museum Membership - Shared admission for over 1200 museums across the country www.narmassociation.org -Common Field- A National Membership Organization for Visual Arts Organizations STATEWIDE - Member of Washington State Arts Alliance, Washington Museum Association, lnspire WA & Upper Columbia Museum Association - Artist Trust (Seattle based statewide organization) - Reciprocal membership benefit - Washington State Arts Commission, Teacher Artist Training Lab - Washington Clay Arts - Creative Economy Task Force COUNTY - Cascade Association of Museums and History membership - Chamber of Commerce - event listings on calendar, member of the Chamber, provide opportunities for artists from the county to exhibit work in the Kittitas County Show, host Artist Registry on www.gallery-one.org of Kittitas County artists , promote businesses and organizations in upper county in auction catalog such as Suncadia, 509 Bakehouse, and others, work. Additional lnformation From the Chamber of Commerce (2019)- Nearly 37 percent visited [Kittitas Countyl for an event with an additional 5 percent visiting for art and history specifically, and in ranking the vacation-worthy features of Ellensburg, respondents ranked visiting shops, museums and galleries in historic downtown were at the top of their list. ln 2021 , 23,513 visitors clicked museums and galleries on the Chamber Tourism page. On MyEllensburg.com, they had a 39.96% increase in users on our Museums and Galleries page in 2020, showing traveler interest in this sector now more than ever. Over the years we have learned about the impact of the cultural tourist (as per the Dean Runyan report's average of $200/ day in spending) and we seek to be a draw to that market segment. The cultural tourist typically spends more and stays longer than other type of U.S. traveler. The U.S. cultural traveler spends 60 percent more, approximately $1 ,319 per trip compared with gB20 for domestic leisure travelers. The cultural traveler also takes more trips than general U.S. travelers: 3.6 vs. 3.4 trips annually - Americans for the Arts 73 percent of Millennials "want to engage a destination's arts and cultural assets"- the highest rated activity of importance. Cultural interests also rate high in importance for Baby Boomers (64.8 percent) and Gen Xers (67.8 percent). More than two thirds of all Millennials also rated "authenticity" in experiences as extremely important. Racially diverse and technologically savvy, the Millennial generation (born 1977-1994) - Americans for the Arts According to the Travel lndustry Association of America, roughly eighty percent of the 150,000,000+ adults who travel more than fifty miles from their homes can be considered "cultural tourists." Thirty percent of adults state that specific arts or a cultural or heritage event influenced their choice of destination on their last trip. We add up each visit (taken at the front desk) to the gallery, our events, our classes. ln 2022 we are projecting a total of 13,876 visits based on attendance counts for events, walk-ins and classes from January 1- September 1. Projected 2023 attendance is 30% increase to 18,038 2. We review our Facebook demographics and Google analytics to understand where our visitors are from. 3. We review our membership and mailing list and see where they are from 4. We review a sample survey from the front desk that asks where visitors are from. This year we conducted this survey from August 20- September 11 . 5. We compare the percentages of those from inside the county, out of the county, and out of the state. See attachment. 6. We determine an average percentage of those from out of the state and out of the county and apply that to the overall number of visits. Out of state average of all numbers is B% plus out of county average is 29o/o totalling 37o/o out of Kittitas County. 7. We multiply our projection of visits by these numbers. Our projection for 2023 is 18,038 x .08= 1623 Out of state visitors 18038 x .29 = 5231 out of county visitors totalling 6854 visitors from out of state. B. We make a modest assumption that I out of 30 of these 6854 visitors from out of state plus out of county (228) will pay for lodging for two nights. (456 overnight stays) We have been using the same methodology since 2014 2500 character limit Application Questions: Part 5 8l Funding Does your organization have, or have you applied for, grant funding from other sources? lf not, why not? lf yes, please list the funding you have for the project, including any volunteer and in-kind sources in Question 9l Project Budget Overview.
