2023 AGENDA STAFF REPORT
AGENDA DATE: March 7, 2023
ACTION REQUESTED: Request to Approve a Resolution Selecting Nexus for
Architectural Services Managing Building Renovations at
the Upper County Maintenance Shop and Authorize the
Public Works Director to negotiate and execute a
Professional Services Agreement for said project.
BACKGROUND: The Board of County Commissioners authorized at a
previous Study Session (September 26, 2022) a proposal to
solicit qualified architectural firms to lead building
renovations at the Upper County Road Maintenance Shop.
The renovations are being driven by poor building seals
that are forcing ongoing Heating Ventilating and Cooling
problems.
A Request for Statement of Qualifications was approved on
December 20, 2022, for a three-week advertisement period.
Submittals were due on January 27, 2023, and one (1)
submittal was received.
Public Works is recommending the selection of Nexus for
the oversight of said project.
INTERACTION: Public Works.
RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Resolution Selecting Nexus for the
Architectural Services Managing Building Renovations at
the Upper County Maintenance Shop and Authorize the
Public Works Director to negotiate and execute a
Professional Services Agreement for said project.
HANDLING: Return one original to Public Works.

RESOLUTION NO. 2023 -
SELECTING NEXUS FOR ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES MANAGING BUILDING
RENOVATIONS AT THE UPPER COUNTY MAINTENANCE SHOP AND
AUTHORIZE THE PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTOR TO NEGOTIATE AND EXECUTE A
PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AGREEMENT FOR SAID PROJECT
WHEREAS: PW docketed a request to advertise for architectural services at Board of County
Commission general business agenda on December 20, 2022; and
WHEREAS: The Department of Public Works (PW) prepared a Request for Statement of
Qualifications for Architectural Services Managing Building Renovations at the
Upper County Maintenance Shop consistent with state law and county code in
January 2023; and
WHEREAS: One (1) submittal was received by Nexus for said services and PW recommends
the selection of said firm; and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners, in the
best interest of the public, does hereby select Nexus for Architectural Services Managing
Building Renovations at the Upper County Maintenance Shop and Authorize the Public Works
Director to negotiate and execute a Professional Services Agreement for said project.
