Request to Approve a Resolution to Award the Bid
to furnish Asphalt Materials for Calendar Year
2023.
BACKGROUND: Annually, Kittitas County Public Works goes out to
bid for the furnishing of Asphalt Materials in
accordance with Standard Specifications of the
Washington State Department of Transportation.
Call for bids are advertised in the legal newspaper
in order to provide equal opportunity.
Bids were opened on February 23, 2023, at 2:00
p.m. in the Public Works Department. Two (2) bids
were received.
INTERACTION: Public Works
RECOMMENDATION: Move to approve the Resolution to Award the Bid
to furnish Asphalt Materials for Calendar Year 2023
to Granite Construction Company.
HANDLING: Return one (1) original to Public Works

RESOLUTION NO.
RESOLUTION TO AWARD THE BID TO FURNISH
ASPHALT MATERIALS FOR 2023
WHEREAS: A Notice of Call for Bids was approved and signed on February 7, 2023, to
furnish Asphalt Materials for 2023; and
WHEREAS: Sealed bids were opened on February 23, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Kittitas County
Public Works and two (2) bids were received; and
WHEREAS: The Public Works Department recommends that the responsible bid of Granite
Construction Company be accepted; and
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners, in the
best interest of the public, does hereby award the bid for 2023 Asphalt Materials to Granite
Construction Company, upon such terms and conditions as specified in the Proposal submitted
by said bidder(s).
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Director of Public Works is authorized to sign the
contract documents upon such terms and conditions specified in the Proposal submitted by said
bidder(s).
