KITTITAS COUNTY EC STUDY SESSION MINUTES BOCC CONFERENCE ROOM, 205 WEST 5TH ROOM 108 - ELLENSBURG Regular Meeting MONDAY 1 10:00 AM I January23, 2023 Board members present: Chairman Cory Wright, Vice -Chairman Brett Wachsmith Others: Kady Porterfield (Event Center Director), Lacie Dawson (Event Center Program Manager), and Ben Kokjer (Sheriff's Office) 1. Call to Order: 10:01 am 2. Citizen Comments (1 min. time limit): None 3. Sheriffs Office Surplus: KCSO would like to sell a surplus vehicle to the city of Cle Elum (they are in need of a vehicle ASAP). Chair Wright and Vice -Chair Wachsmith agreed to the sale. KCSO will attempt to make a trade (vehicle for $4800 toward lease of building) or if a trade is not able to be made, they can sell the vehicle to the city of Cle Elum for $2400 cash. 4. General Event and Rental Updates: There have been a few staffing shortages due to health issues. One of the Event Operations Aides (EOA) will be out until 2/8 (caring for an ill family member) and the other EOA has an injury and will be having surgery on 2/7 (expected to be out at least 2 months). Maintenance has been helping as needed. Bloom has remained busy with several rides per day. 4-H clubs are using the Monday Night Ride option. Loggers in the Valley will be holding their 3 -day event in September. Blood drives will also continue to be held as space allows. 5. Self Promoted Events Business * Fair Board Updates: Contest for the 2023 fair poster has been announced and are accepting entries. The 4-H building will have a new director and will have more of an Ag education focus. * Patriot Nights Under the Lights Updates: Will take place on July 3`d. Kady is working on a double -headliner for this year, will have news soon. Kady has met with a local marketing company to see about a cost proposal for them to handle the marketing end of Patriot Night. 6. Special Projects: Armory meeting rooms are being painted. a. Rodeo Arena Grandstands Updates: Working on funding and dates for February meetings. Kady will meet with Patti about cost estimates. b. Western Village Expansion Approval: Kady is working with Karl from the Rodeo Board on the expansion of the VIP room (expand toward the stock pens). It will be approximately double the size and will add more restrooms. There may need to be a boundary line adjustment made. The Ellensburg Rodeo will pay for the expansion. Chairman Wright and Vice -Chair Wachsmith agree to move forward with the expansion. c. Bloom Addition Updates: Crews will begin moving in around the week of 2/20.
