Asset
The citizens of Upper Kittitas County have supported
the concept of an indoor community recreation
center for decades. The impact of a place to gather,
creating social connections for all community
members, is truly powerful and will provide significant
benefits to those who live and recreate in the
community.
Benefits
• Promote wellness and reduce the risk of disease
• Help the injured or infirm to reclaim health and mobility
• Provide the opportunity for children and adults to learn to swim
• Give students in the Cle Elum-Roslyn School District a place to
go, within walking distance, after school.
• Supplement gaps in indoor gym space for students in both
school districts.
• Provide indoor walking track, water aerobics and other
activities for seniors.
• Create new job opportunities for local youth
• Create a space for summer camps
• Connect to trails systems
• Promote tourism and expand economic growth.

• Kittitas Valley Healthcare has
expressed interest in 7,000 square
feet for physical therapy in addition to
shared facilities
• Swiftwater Fitness wants to partner
rather than compete, significantly
reducing the operating shortfall

• City of Cle Elum, City of Roslyn, City
of South Cle Elum, City of
Ellensburg, Kittitas County, Kittitas

Develop Capital and
Operating Funds Strategy

• Drive fundraising campaign for
individual and business gifts
• Plan and execute a bond issue and
operating levy
Define Governance
• Kittitas County Parks and Recreation
District #1 will likely need to run a
bond and levy
• City of Cle Elum owns the land and
will need a lease agreement with
building owner
• Define ongoing role of UKC CRCA
• Determine who will operate the
facility, considering funding sources
