Public Health Study Session October 26, 2022 10:00 AM Commissioner’s Conference Room Meeting Minutes Attendees: Brett Wachsmith, Laura Osiadacz, Cory Wright, Chelsey Loeffers, Candi Blackford Call to Order The meeting was called to order at 10:00 am. Citizen Comment (1 minute time limit) There were no members of the public present. Department Business Action Needed: Epidemiologist Position Chelsey Loeffers requested the approval of the Board of County Commissioners on the creation of a Public Health Epidemiologist position. This approval also includes the promotion of Lianne Bradshaw, Assessment Coordinator, to that position beginning January 1, 2023. Mrs. Loeffers reviewed the Epidemiologist job description, potential wage range, and funding sources that will support this position. There were no concerns were noted and The Board members all approved of the creation of the position. Also briefly discussed the filling of the Assessment Coordinator position that will be posted soon to allow the current Assessment Coordinator to work with the new coordinator. Update on potential new emergency preparedness and response funding Chelsey Loeffers noted the potential for increased Foundation of Public Health Funds that may be used to potentially create a Emergency Management Coordinator position within the health department. Currently the health department has approximately .4 FTE position that does emergency management work. The additional funds would allow the department to increase this to a full time FTE. Discussion was had as to where position would be housed and commissioners encouraged Mrs. Loeffers to work with Sheriffs Office since they are also asking for additional staff in emergency management. It was recommended to see if both departments can work together to include work for both proposed staff into the proposed creation of 1 total position.
