AGENDA DATE: November 1, 2022
ACTION REQUESTED: Request to set a public hearing for the adoption of an Ordinance for
Compost Procurement.
BACKGROUND: Under the new 2022 Organics Management Law ES2HB199 Kittitas
County is required to adopt a Compost Procurement Ordinance by
January 1, 2023.
Based on Kittitas County’s population being greater than 25,0000 we
are required to adopt a Compost Procurement Ordinance. This new
ordinance will require that the county source compost for projects
when possible.
INTERACTION: Prosecutors, Department of Ecology
RECOMMENDATION: Recommend Board approval to set a public hearing for December 6,
2022, at 2:00pm.
