COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES

SPECIAL MEETING
MONDAY 2:30 P.M. SEPTEMBER 26, 2022
Board members present: Chairman Laura Osiadacz; Vice-Chairman Cory
Wright; and Commissioner Brett Wachsmith.
Others: Julie Kjorsvik, Clerk of the Board; Mandy Buchholz, Office
Administrator; Brian Carlson, Budget & Finance Director and Ben
Kokjer, Chief Deputy; and 1 member of the public.
SPECIAL MEETING 2023 PRELIMINARY BUDGET COMMISSIONERS
At 2:30 p.m. Chairman Osiadacz opened a Special Meeting to consider
a preliminary review of the 2023 budget.
Brian Carlson, Budget & Finance Director, reviewed the meeting
agenda and goals including process & scheduling; familiarity with
starting figures; introduction to variances items and drivers;
articulating questions for department/office review; clarifying the
County Commissioners expectations/preferences; discussion of
departments vs. offices; and the Budget Directors principles. He
also reviewed proposed the Commissioners budget review process.
He mentioned that currently there is a 13-million-dollar deficit,
but he’s not alarmed at this point. He said they are anticipating an
increase of approximately 35% for county-wide health care insurance.
The meeting was concluded at 3:37 p.m.
