BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />COUNTY OF KITTITAS <br />STATE OF WASHINGTON <br />RESOLUTION <br />NO. <br />AUTHORIZING SUBMITTAL OF A TRAFF'IC SAFETY PLANNING GRANT <br />SI]PPORTING SNOQUALMIE PASS DEVELOPMENT <br />WHEREAS:Kittitas County Department of Public Works (PW) continues working <br />with Snoqualmie Pass stakeholders attempting to manage ongoing traffic <br />congestion and safety concerns; and <br />WHEREAS:PW has spent several months discussing transportation improvement <br />needs with numerous pass stakeholders and private property owners; and <br />WIIEREAS:The United States Department of Transportation (USDOT) recently <br />issued a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for "safe Streets and <br />Roads for All" traffic safety planning grants; and <br />WHEREAS:All pass stakeholders and infra-structure owners desire preventing future <br />serious traffic accidents and death resulting from increasing <br />transportation pressure at the pass; and <br />WIIEREAS:PW has prepared a grant application consistent with requirements <br />contained in the USDOT "Safe Streets and Roads for All" NOFO. <br />NOW' THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED: The Board of County Commissioners, after due <br />consideration, does hereby authorize submitting a "Safe Streets and Roads for All" traffic safety <br />planning grant to the USDOT supporting improvements at Snoqualmie Pass. <br />DATED this 6th day of September 2022, at Ellensburg, Washington. <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />CO , WASHINGTON <br />Board- Julie Kjorsvik <br />An),h- 1"0 <br />ice-Chairman <br />ABSENT <br />n Deputy Clerk of the Board- Mandy Buchholz <br />Brett Wachsmith, Commissioner
