RESOLUTION

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING RECOGNITION OF EMPLOYEES OR ELECTED OFF'ICIALS
LEAVING SERVICE WITH KITTITAS COUNTY
WHEREAS: Kiffitas County employees provide dedicated service to the citizens of the community; and,
WHEREAS: It is desirous to recognize these individuals as they leave public service by providing them
with a memento of appreciation; and,
WHEREAS: said honorarium shall be consistent with limitations established by statute and be
predom inately of sentimental value.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that employees or Elected Officials leaving service with Kittitas
County in good standing and meet the following defined categories, shall be eligible to receive a
memento of recognition and appreciation as approved, authorized and budgeted for by the Kittitas County
Board of County Commissioners:
Elected Official: Leaving office upon completion of term or retiring from public service through the
retirement system.
Retiring Employee: Any employee who has been employed by Kittitas County for at least the last five (5)
years of employment and who officially retired from public service through the retirement system.
Separating Employee: Any employee who is separating employment with Kittitas CounW in good
standing after fifteen (15) years or more years of continuous service.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that said memento shall have nominal monetary value in keeping with
good judgement for the prudent expenditure of public funds.

Purpose
To explain HR's procedures for recognizing staff who are leaving County employment after
reaching retirement or a length of service milestone.
Scope
This SOP shall be applied to the following employee types per Resolution 2022-
2.1,.1, Elected Officials leavin g office upon completion of their term, or retiring form public
service through the retirement system
2.I.2 Retirins em plovees wh o have been employed by Kittitas County for at least five (5)
and are retiring from public service through the retirement system.
Separating emplovees who have been employed by Kittitas County in good standing
after fifteen (15) or more years of continuous service.

Responsibilities
The HR Department is responsible for notifying the Commissioner's Office of the name of the
employee/Elected Official who is retiring/separating from service.
The Commissioner's Office is responsible for purchasing and providing the employee with a
memento of appreciation for their public service.
Prerequisites
None.
Procedures
The HR Department is notified of an employee who is retiring or separating from County
employment.
6.1,.1. The notice must be received in writing via the Notice of Separation form on CAMAS
or a letter of resignation from the employee.

The HR Representative determines if the separating employee meets the qualifications for
recognition as outlined in section 2.1 of this SOP.
6.2.1 This determination can be made by reviewing the employee's personnel file,
NOVAIime, etc.
lf the HR Representative determines that the employee meetings the qualifications for
recognition, the must provide the following information to the Commissioner's Office as soon
as possible:
6.3.1 Employee name, position title, and department.
6.3.2 Employee's work email and phone number.
6.3.3 Separation status (resigning from service or retiring).
6.3.4 Employee'sseparation/retirementdate.
6.3.5 An explanation of how the employee meets the qualifications for recognition.
6.3.6 Any other general information that the Commissioner's Office requests about the
employee's tenure with Kittitas County.
