AGENDA DATE: August 2, 2022
ACTION REQUESTED: Request a resolution declaring a county wide outdoor burn ban
BACKGROUND: Kittitas County is currently experiencing dry conditions which has elevated risks of fires.
DNR fire risks matrix has given Kittitas County a “High” danger risk. Future weather
predictions show a substantial warm, drier weather pattern.
INTERACTION: Fire Chiefs from Fire Districts 1,3,4,6 and 7, Kittitas Valley Fire and Rescue, Snoqualmie
Pass Fire and Rescue, Cle Elum Fire, Roslyn Fire have unanimously agreed to implement
an outdoor fire ban. With the exemption of: charcoal BBQs, smokers, propane fire pits
and fires in approved fire rings in improved campgrounds.
RECOMMENDATION: Pass a resolution banning pile/debris burning.
