COMMISSIONERS’ MINUTES <br />HR STUDY SESSION <br />KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON <br />BOCC CONFERENCE ROOM <br />REGULAR MEETING <br /> <br />TUESDAY 10:00 AM 7/12/2022 <br /> <br />Board members present: Cory Wright, Brett Wachsmith <br />Others: Clay Myers, Nick Henderson, Dan Carlson, Darren Higashiyama, Christopher Horner, Kristine <br />Foreman, Jeanne Killgore <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />The meeting was called to order at 10:00 AM. <br />PUBLIC COMMENT (ONE MINUTE) <br />None. <br />EXECUTIVE SESSION – RCW 42.30.110 (G) TO EVALUATE THE QUALIFICATIONS OF AN APPLICANT FOR <br />PUBLIC EMPLOYMENT OR TO REVIEW THE PERFORMANCE OF A PUBLIC EMPLOYEE. HOWEVER, <br />SUBJECT TO RCW 42.30.140(4), DISCUSSION BY A GOVERNING BODY OF SALARIES, WAGES, AND <br />OTHER CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT TO BE GENERALLY APPLIED WITHIN THE AGENCY SHALL OCCUR <br />IN A MEETING OPEN TO THE PUBLIC, AND WHEN A GOVERNING BODY ELECTS TO TAKE FINAL ACTION <br />HIRING, SETTING THE SALARY OF AN INDIVIDUAL EMPLOYEE OR CLASS OF EMPLOYEES, OR <br />DISCHARGING OR DISCIPLINING AN EMPLOYEE, THAT ACTION SHALL BE TAKEN IN A MEETING OPEN <br />TO THE PUBLIC. <br />This item was moved to the end of the agenda. <br />The Board entered executive session at 10:10 AM to discuss the performance of a public employee for <br />approximately 15 minutes. Anticipated action: approve or deny Resolution 2022-141. The Board exited <br />executive session at 10:25 AM. Commissioner Wachsmith moved to approve Resolution 2022-141 to <br />appoint an interim Fire Marshal. Commissioner Wright seconded the motion. Motion was approved; 2:0. <br />REQUEST TO APPROVE RECLASSIFICATION OF CHIEF DEPUTY CORONER <br />HR Director Foreman summarized that Coroner Henderson would like to reclassify his Chief Deputy <br />Coroner position from non-exempt to exempt, as well as update the wage range. Director Foreman <br />explained that the position description meets FLSA requirements for an exempt position, and the wage <br />must be adjusted to also meet those requirements. Deputy Prosecutor Horner will perform a legal review <br />of the request, and the item will be revisited at the Monday morning Admin. meeting. <br />BENEFITS COMMITTEE UPDATE AND NEXT STEPS
