AGENDA STAFF REPORT
AGENDA DATE: June 21, 2022
ACTION REQUESTED: Request the Board of County Commissioners (BoCC) to
approve and sign a letter of commitment to the State of
Washington Tourism to be included in the TREAD Map
application.
BACKGROUND:
On May 5, 2022, TREAD gave a presentation to the Committee on their recreation
management app, TREAD. This app would allow more continuity between land users and
land managers and allow organizations to tailor messaging around recreation. TREAD
predicts to have over 100,000 users by September 2022. TREAD partnered with the State
of Washington Tourism, and they are asking counties for a $30,000 one-time
contribution. This contribution would give Kittitas County access to the data collected.
INTERACTION:
The Lodging Tax Advisory Committee met on June 8, 2022, and discussed the benefits of
funding TREAD Maps, the committee agreed that it would be a good use of Lodging Tax
funds and moved to have the Board of County Commissioners approve the $30,000
contribution. The Prosecutor’s office reviewed and approved the letter of commitment on
6/10/2022, request #54312.
RECOMMENDATION:
Request the Board of County Commissioners (BoCC) to approve and sign the letter of
commitment to the State of Washington Tourism to be included in the TREAD Map
application.
HANDLING:
Send a fully executed electronic copy to the State of Washington Tourism.
