Kittitas County Auditor - Agenda Staff Report
Prepared by: Brian Carlson, Budget and Finance Director
Agenda Date: June 7, 2022
Topic: Professional Services Agreement with Tara Dunford CPA

Action Requested:
Approve PSA with Tara Dunford CPA for NTE $60K in 2022

Summary:
• The attached PSA was introduced during a BOCC special meeting on June 1, 2022. It reflects an initial
scope of service to include:
o drafting of 2021 Financial Statements, and
o cash reconciliation between Treasury and General Ledger accounts.
• 2022 scope is budgeted for a not-to-exceed figure of $60K, sourced from the $7MM remaining ARPA
funds. Finance Director will return to BOCC with the appropriate budgeting formality for this 2022
amendment.
• PSA allows for mutual agreement to three one-year extensions beginning in 2023.
• Proposed future scope will be phased to include the following:
o Review, revision of chart of accounts for simplification and compliance with BARS
o Implementation of best practices; documentation of all processes
o Continued drafting of Financial Statements via scalable annual engagement which reflects
County’s internal capacity to complete this task
• Finance Director may proceed with “future scope” in 2022, depending on budget and progress with
initial scope. Director will provide regular updates during Finance Study Sessions.
• Prosecutor’s review of contract is pending as of the drafting of this agenda statement. If review is not
concluded prior to publishing deadline, staff will bring a revised version to June 7th BOCC meeting for
specific discussion of revisions. Finance Director appreciates BOCC and Prosecutor’s flexibility while
expediting this engagement.

Attachment:
• PSA Tara Dunford CPA
