KITTITAS COUNTY <br />AIRPORT DEPARTMENT <br />June 7, 2022 <br />AGENDA STAFF REPORT <br /> <br />AGENDA DATE: JUNE 7, 2022 CONSENT AGENDA <br /> <br />ACTION REQUESTED: REQUEST TO SET A PUBLIC HEARING TO <br />CONSIDER APPROVING THE DEPARTMENT OF <br />NATURAL RESOURCES UPDATED LEASE <br /> <br /> <br />LEAD STAFF: Ken Grannan Airport Director <br /> Codi Fortier, Administrative Assistant <br /> <br />BACKGROUND: The Department of Natural Resources has been leasing <br />Airport Property for many years. As the climate changes at <br />the state DNR is needing to expand and allocate services to <br />the appropriate areas. DNR has presented a desire to stay <br />located at Bowers Field for the long term, maintaining the <br />many jobs and expanding those services in the coming <br />years. <br /> <br />DISCUSSION: The new DNR lease will consist of a land lease term of 35 <br />years and rent will be calculated per square foot. With this <br />lease adjustment DNR will reduce their footprint to <br />approximately 8.35 acres, or 363,726 sq. ft. at the current <br />lease rate of $.16 per square foot. This reduction of land <br />area is beneficial to Bowers Field as it opens up additional <br />acreage for commercial development along Bowers Road, <br />consisting of the last remaining commercial developable <br />property with airfield access at the airport. <br />. <br />INTERACTION: AAC, BoCC, and Prosecutors Office. <br /> <br />STAFF <br />RECOMMENDATION: To set the public hearing to consider approval of the new <br />DNR lease. <br /> <br />HANDLING: Original to Clerk <br /> <br /> <br />ATTACHMENTS: Public Notice <br /> <br />
