KITTITAS COUNTY
May 19, 2022
Rachel Snider, Vice President Leasing & Property Management
Jones Lang LaSalle Americans, Inc.
2650 Lou Menk
Fort Worth, Texas 76131
RE: BNSF Lease #BF10887; Location: Ellensburg, Washington
Dear Rachel,
I'm writing to serve notice that our Office wishes to terminate our lease with BNSF for the
building and property that has long served as our county's Search and Rescue (SAR) base of
operations. We intend to be clear of the location and the lease on September 1, 2022.
I am personally grateful, and our county is indebted, to BNSF for the generous terms of this
lease, which has provided infrastructure for our operations for decades. By supporting SAR
operations in this manner, BNSF has directly contributed to the many rescues and lives saved by
SAR. Thank you.
As our county's population and recreational profile has grown, it's become clear that the most
effective base for SAR was in the Upper County. Through the support of our county
Commissioners and the City of Cle Elum, we are now completing the move of SAR resources to
a temporary base in Cle Elum, and a purpose-built, permanent home in the Cle Elum area is in
the works.
We enjoy our positive working relationship with BNSF and anticipate a continuation of that
partnership. If you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact our office at your
convenience.
Sincerely,
Clay yers,
Sheriff
307 W.
