05/17/2022 MINUTES 1 <br />COMMISSIONERS' MINUTES <br />KITTITAS COUNTY, WASHINGTON <br />AUDITORIUM/WEBEX <br />SPECIAL MEETING <br /> <br />TUESDAY 2:00 P.M. MAY 24, 2022 <br /> <br />Board members present: Chairman Laura Osiadacz (Webex); Vice- <br />Chairman Cory Wright and Commissioner Brett Wachsmith. <br /> <br />Others: Julie Kjorsvik, Clerk of the Board; Mandy Buchholz, <br />Administrative Supervisor; Brian Carlson, Budget & Finance Director; <br />and 3 members of the public. <br /> <br />PUBLIC HEARING CDBG - HOPESOURCE AUDITOR <br /> <br />At 2:00 p.m. VICE-CHAIRMAN WRIGHT opened a Public Hearing to review <br />the community development and housing needs, inform citizens of the <br />availability of funds and eligible uses of the State Community <br />Development Block Grant (CDBG), and receive comments on the proposed <br />activities, particularly from lower income persons residing in <br />Kittitas County. Comments on Kittitas County and HopeSource’s past <br />performance and use of the prior year CDBG Public Services Grant <br />will also be received. <br /> <br />BRIAN CARLSON, BUDGET & FINANCE DIRECTOR, reviewed a proposed grant <br />application to the Department of Commerce for Community Development <br />Block Grant funds in the amount of $83,000.00 to fund public <br />services that principally benefit low-and moderate-income persons <br />for the 2022 program year. <br /> <br />KATE SANDER, REPRESENTING HOPESOURCE reviewed Hope University <br />program which provides life skills to support all CAP program <br />clients with basic life skills including budgeting, household <br />management, credit, financial crisis money management and positive <br />work habits. <br /> <br />THERE BEING NO ONE REQUESTING TO TESTIFY, THE PUBLIC PORTION OF THE <br />HEARING WAS CLOSED. <br /> <br />COMMISSIONER WACHSMITH moved to approve the Community Development <br />Block Grant funding application in the amount of $83,000.00, for <br />HopeSource to provide public services beginning July 1, 2022, <br />through June 30, 2023. VICE-CHAIRMAN WRIGHT seconded. Motion carried <br />3-0. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
